The new AFX is not bad at all! Although nothing will ever beat SAWVII (an anomaly in his catalogue I suppose), I'm excited to hear the new album.

I agree 100% on it being a side-hustle for them. But it begs the question everyone has asked at some point on this forum... if this is their side-hustle, what is their main gig?

I could imagine probably ghost producing and maybe writing incidental music for shows like Top Gear. If I do recall someone found music registered to them on a copyright database for Top Gear. They do have the skills for incidental music so I'd assume that's the case.

Ah yeah I remember this floating about years ago that they make incidental music.. Geez that must have been like 20 years ago I heard that last mentioned.

I remember when I was younger listening to all the music on TV trying to guess if I could hear anything boardsy and I'm sure I did a few times, at least what I imagined could be boards anyway.

There was a time like 2005ish when you would hear boards on TV every other week, My mum and dad would get fed up when we watched documentaries or sciencey stuff on the TV and boards would come on and I'd exclaim "BOARDS OF CANADA!" Lmao

to be honest I still do that but my cat doesn't seem interested at all :/

Had no idea that the urban legend they made incidental music was so old. But it makes sense. They love library music and Dewolfe records. Either that or they produce local bands like Sexual Objects. They even once used the pseudonyms Chas Dimensional and Sauce Minor to add some keyboards on a SO track.

But no idea if these theories are true. Nobody's ever found music like Aphex's SoundCloud for BOC unless we count R35TT, which basically is like an outtakes dump
Warning: This numerology post is not to be taken 2 seriously.

Anyone have a link to the music they did for Top Gear? I've been an obsessive Boards fan for going on twenty years now and somehow never heard about this.

I'm not buying it but are there any Deezer users on here? There's a 'new' Boards of Canada track released today called Frost.

The artwork doesn't look legit, the track is a short ambient interlude that I wouldn't immediately credit to them either.

Hullo! Composer is Dmitrii Volkov.
Different publishing as well, or their incidental music soundtrack work is released on MusicAlligator. <|°_°|> :P

Ha thanks. That explains that then.

I almost sh*t myself when I had a notification pop up saying new music from BoC.

Has anyone else noticed that Mike has deleted a Tweet off his twitter.

Was there not another qoute from Sweet bird by Joni Mitchell:

Golden in time
Cities under the sand
Power, ideals and beauty
Fading in everyone's hands

I can't seem to find it

If they have time to do such idiotically inept things no wonder the next album will be posthumous…
Molest me not with this pocket calculator stuff.

The next line of course being "Give me some time".

So I deduce enough time has now been given, new album is ready. Case closed.

This Boards of Canada Frost thing that's doing the rounds. I realise it's been debunked – but how the hell did it end up on BOC's Apple Music profile? https://music.apple.com/gb/artist/board ... da/2989314

Hey now! That is considered a classic in my household. BoC or not, it changed my life!

Somebody may have used a distribution service like distrokid and typed Boc as the artist.

(Shoutout to niski for coming up with that theory)
