Let's speculate on certain sounds and samples.

Everything related to our favorite Scottish duo.

the reversed vocal samples beginning at 0:53 in "A is to B as B is to C" were sampled from a documentary about Noah Chomsky

I found the second flute sample used in the Dead Dogs Two remix, it comes from the beginning of Aloha Oe by Terry Snyder

Found something really cool about the beginning of Come to Dust:
The resonant synth in the intro is in mono, so you can invert the phase of one of the channels and mix them to isolate what's behind the synth

I noticed that in the spectrum this weird sound has a really sharp cutoff around 4khz, and thought, hey, this looks like a sample that's been slowed quite a bit. If you speed this up around 16st and reverse it, you get this:

I recognized it immediately, it's sampled from the famous choral piece Miserere, mei deus

The above vid isn't the exact version they sampled, and since there are so many versions of this piece which all sound similar then it might be impossible to know for certain which one they used. Still really cool to see this song referenced/used by the band, seems on brand for them in a way

That is INSANE find! Pretty sure you are right with this one. Impressed that you recognized the original immediately.

Okay, new find, this time for A06
At about 4 mins into the track, you can hear a weird echo-ey vocal which says "too good to be true", here's my isolation of it:

This comes from The Dave Clark Five - Everybody Knows

Here is a side-by-side comparison (the Dave Clark Five sample was lowered by about 2 semitones):

Great finds! I've been wondering about the intro of Come To Dust for many years. Some masterful transformation from the original source material there.

Another one for the Dead Dogs Two remix: the reversed flute sample at 0:47 is from Joni Mitchell - Barangrill

It's reversed, pitched up, and time-stretched a little a bit in the Dead Dogs Two remix, so it's a little hard to hear. Here's a comparison with a reversed Barangrill:

Music is Math

I was playing around with Ultimate Vocal Remover today and discovered this:

phpBB [media]

The isolated vocal sample at 3:52 sounds to me like "perfect example". In the mix it still sounds like "circle", but I can't hear that hard "c" in the isolated version. I can hear why some think it's "purple" too. But those last three peaks sound like ex-am-ple.

TBH this doesn't sound like anything more than just voice enhancer artifacts. IE if you use AI in Audacity to split a song, it will inevitably at one point grab something it thinks are vocals, and the result is a cool, strange, but artificial sound. The vocals might be somewhat representational of the actual vocals fed into it, but it's usually a weird fragmented thing. That's very prevelant in adobe voice enhancer as well.

I'm 99.9% positive that in the song there is a voice that says "purple." You can hear other colors mentioned on the record as well.

The very last sound in that clip is the part I always thought said purple. Maybe it's pareidolia and everybody thinks they're hearing purple but not really, It's just a random sound..

I think with more processing we can get a phrase out of this whole sample though
