Don't come back to Sheffield! They shut down all the gravy factories. All just rust and ruins now, very "Tomorrows Harvest". What will be do with out our Bisto now? Anyway, enough talking about Sheffield. I don't think that's where LP5 is hiding.

I am still quite convinced there will be a happening in August. We are only two weeks and a bit weeks away! Lets see.

There’s no way to not call it a comeback. Question is: Is this record a new beginning or maybe the end? How does it feel for you?

Marcus: It feels like neither of those things from our perspective because we’ve always been working! We’d be making music anyway even if nobody was listening, and we’ve no intention of stopping, so this is just a continuation

Marcus: "Looking at the current situation, sometimes I feel inspired to create something dark and challenging out of this chaos. But on other days, I feel the best approach is to counter it and create something fresher and more positive. The media worldwide is already doing a good job of instilling fear and maintaining it daily. We don't need to add to that. While our music does have dark and surreal elements, the underlying message is always one of hope and freedom."

And I take everything we’ve heard from BoC, MDG and other sources in good faith, but I know that plans can change and sometimes things don’t come to fruition.

Kevin Shields repeatedly claimed there would be a new My Bloody Valentine album “this year” again and again. I’m sure he intended that to be the case.

GRR Martin has been assuring fans for over a decade that the Winds of Winter is on the way. There’s no indication it is finished. There is no difference between his statements and what MDG has communicated. Again, I fully believe these are statements made in good faith. Unfortunately it doesn’t automatically translate to an imminent release.

I hope this post will soon be irrelevant as a new LP gets officially launched, but at the moment in order not to be disappointed I’m taking all news and findings with a pinch of salt.

First sane response I’ve read in a very long time. Quite refreshing.

agreed!!!

I find myself with these questions and speculations.

When does mystery turns to shtick, a gimmick.
When does silence or atrocious minimal communications turns to contempt towards those who fork hard-earned money for your art. They often said that they do this music for themselves and their very close circle, we may be to them some whiny annoying bitches who always come and demand more, and I am sure that this is extremely annoying to them.

Who benefits from the gear sold, for I am believing that BoC receives absolutely nothing from that gear, it is purely in the hands of the record company. If someone orders gear and tosses in some music, then BoC would receive their pocket change for it said music.

Given that there is absolutely no way that two grown adults with families and activities could live off their art, then I guess it means they are busy 9:00-17:00 most likely.

In that context, no matter how important music is to you, it comes to be a hobby, a secondary track some kind of side quest.

Furthermore, age, health, family, etc. the train may have already left the station, and they might not even realize they're done. No more like you would know the last time you say goodbye to someone until you actually cannot do so anymore and reflect, oh, that two years ago was the last goodbye.

BUT to confirm anything would dry out the revenue stream, so... what do they do? Milk what's left of the lemon, t-shirts, reprints. Toss an odd mixtape to get the buzz going a little more, a last adrenalin shot to keep the heart pumping.

I would LOVE some new BoC, of course, but I am happy with what we already have. Unpopular opinion, I think they peaked with Geogaddi and IABPOITC, so if hey decided that this was it, I am also happy with that.

In the end, they do whatever they want, i just find it rude personally to be ghosted, some of you may feel the same. And if you tell me to grow thicker skin, well, that's like just your opinion, man.

Enjoy your Friday

Hello there beautiful.

You mean milk whats left of the orange? Personally, I like the silence. After all, an artist respects the silence, it serves the foundation of creativity. its all apart of the game! Lets try not to see it as personal.

Being ghosted is a green flag imo. Haven't seen or heard from Leyland Kirby in 5+ yrs, doesn't mean he's not making art. Similarly goes for BOC.
You HAVE to be isolated in order to make art for yourself.

So you think the record company is stealing money from them with these new shirts? I don't mind people saying they're done, but isn't that taking things a little too far?

Pretty sure Warp just prefers creative integrity over milking their artists. BOC certainly have the power and platform to tell the internet if Warp is conning them and exploiting their art for money. If anything, these new shirts will help fund their campaign to release new music and make all of us happy.

And Warp do let their artists take long sabbaticals.
Look at Seefeel. They were gone since 2011 and they returned last year with a fresh EP. I'm sure many people thought they were done too but they were mainly just on the down low.

I do respect anyone's need to call them George R Martin or Kevin Shields for their own sanity, but I really feel that we are on the cusp of something very exciting for Warp and BOC. I could be wrong, but I don't see anything wrong with being hopeful in lieu of this new campaign. I think it's all up from here.

This new campaign. Enlighten me, please, because I don't see anything that would qualify as campaign in the business or even art world at play here.

"atrocious minimal communications" .... Lol.. "atrocious"

"we may be to them some whiny annoying bitches"

- Yes I'm sure they just hate having fans..

What an extremely unhinged rant.

Is that you, HarryNutsack?

You know what, this is exactly why I fucked off the first time after ten plus years on here, and exactly the same reason why I will fuck off again right now.

They've publicly said how much they appeciate their fans, so I doubt us lot wanting more music will annoy them, I'm sure they're as keen to relase whatever maybe in store sooner rather than later, but there might be a lot of obsticles in the way before that happens. Just don't take it personally, when it happens it will happen.

Is there much pressure when working on a new record ?

Marcus: The only pressure on us when we're recording music is from ourselves. If you let the fans or the record company start to apply pressure on you, your music would suffer. So we just keep away from everyone and get on with jamming and writing, and after a while a record comes out of it.

Hey there! Settle down. We are all friends here. Its not a dig. You made some valid points, I don't think you are Mrs Nutsack... I understand the silence might be getting you a bit frustrated! But its okay. This is all quite normal here. They haven't abandoned us, not yet at least. The lights have flickered in the bunker at least a couple of times this year, thats enough for me!

Hello again! How are you? Enjoying the weather?

A lot of you are really focusing quite a lot attention onto these t-shirts! I know, Warp needs money! Its just how the music business is!!! But seriously, I think there is more to it than just that. Its our favorite Scottish duo, Boards Of Canada, after all.. give them more credit!

I believe a marketing campaign to promote BOC in any way, shape or form is still a campaign. Whether you think this is a cash grab or something bigger, it is still a concentrated effort to promote BOC for whatever reason.

And that is why I feel optimistic. Even if it isn't new music, there's still some anniversaries around the corner and a reason to be happy. But I choose to believe we are getting something new.

Apologies for literally dragging this back from a few pages ago, but here is some speculating which is more interesting than a bit of orange fabric with a boards of canada logo on it. What do we all think of these then?

Why can't we accept the possibility that LP5 might already be out there :)

I think everyone should do a bit of research and come back with the ones you think are the most fake!
