Agreed. Advocating those likes are pointers to a new album, and handed out by BOC themselves, is just so silly.
Even admins go above and beyond to claim it's them, solely based on their own wishful thinking. It's giving cult vibes.

Sorry, folks: There is no new Boards of Canada album imminent. A representative for Warp Records says, "They are definitely working on new material, but there is nothing in the cards at the moment in terms of a scheduled release." They seem to know as much as the rest of us do.
The recent flurry of activity was ignited on Monday when a fan posted on the Boards of Canada Facebook page, asking "Rumors of a new BOC album are rife? Any truth in this?" and Boards of Canada responded, "Yes." And that was all.

Sudden need? Sudden change? Hexagon Sun has been communicating with us since over two decades.

We've always seen BoC communication (in)directly over the years. At their own pace. In their own style.

luminousdusk wrote:Hexagon sun yes but the brothers themselves? Bit of a deflection there, going from talking about the brothers themselves to hexagon sun in general.
We are specifically talking about the boards of Canada Instagram here

There is zero evidence the brothers are running that insta

Have you ever considered it's operated by multiple people? BoC amongst others?
- The occasional like: Mike and/or Marcus
- When one of their beloved artists passes (Bowie): a post on Twitter by Mike and/or Marcus
- Checking account settings: MDG
- Uploading a fan video every 6 months: Mike
- Replying with a witty emoji comment every 3 years: Marcus
- Publishing the Twoism 30 video on several accounts and engaging a lot more: Warp intern + Mike

See my post above about the March 2012 social media pointer to a new album. History repeats itself.
BTW:
- There is only one admin: Aesthetics. He didn't voice his opinion on the matter.
- There is only one moderator: 2020k. He seems to side with you guys, the naysayers.
I am the only semi-moderator who says that I think they, amongst others, manage their social accounts. Am I only basing my opinion on wishful thinking? I thought you were against such loose assumptions?
Cyclosa wrote:I really couldn't be bothered to look up who's who here exactly on Twoism, but thanks for the info i guess?
My point was, mods downplaying any healthy skepticism as soon as it's posted by repeating the same old trite theories is not a good look, take that as you will.
Helios wrote:Super confused why anyone wouldn't think the likes are official confirmation. They're official accounts. It doesn't matter who literally is clicking the buttons, they're representative of BoC.
Aesthetics wrote:Through the years I've been in contact with MDG and he always tried his best to help us out to debunk rumors or provide us with inside information. Although I was convinced that he was the person he claimed to be, some members of the community weren't at all.
To debunk this for once and for all I requested some sort of proof in the form of an album announcement scoop. I (and Fredd-E for the bocpages) suggested a piece of artwork or a song title days in advance before an official album announcement. MDG told us that he would discuss this with the boys and do whatever he can to make this possible. I was prepared to blow the doubters away once there was something worth mentioning but never did I expect to be included in this mysterious trip like it did!!
I really would like to thank the people at Warp, Boards of Canada and of course mdg for making this possible! They managed to get a whole fan-base glued to the internet in order to solve this mystery. I will never forget this experience.
