The new album will be out when the stereo master tape has aged and settled in like a fine wine...

Not liked by BOC instagram (minority of the comments):

New album
- New album for 2025?!?
- 2025 or 2026?
- When is the new one coming out?
- drop the album it's been 12 years
- Drop new album you cornballs
- More music, NOW!, Stop fucking about!
(good ones not liked :] )
- Like this comment if there’s no release coming
- NEW ALBUM NEVER???????????????
- If this goes on like this there maybe another 30 years for the next record

BOC set
- PLEASE release all old material. I love BoC! Esp duffy and the various old tapes.
- Are we ever getting an official release for vol 1+2? heck I'd buy a whole vinyl for 5.9.78 alone tbh.
- how about Play by Numbers?
- please release hooper bay, etc.
- Release Spiro please

Live
- When's the show gonna be announced? I'll fly out wherever.
- The world needs you on stage again
- I dream for the day you guys come back with a live concert somewhere on the planet
- 30 years of non live gigs

Other
- Is this real account?
- Guys, do an interview — it would be interesting to hear how things are going with you.
- we need some news from you guys
- I have come here seeking answers....and all I found were more questions.
- why have you forsaken us?

I feel from it that gratitude is indeed important (and politeness which was expressed by majority of instagram fans)...

Nevertheless I will always know and respect feelings of all the fans here, 5 years ago I wasn't different myself... but also one "bad" like and the moment of surprise could be destroyed forever... :}

It was their anniversary event, and some didn't even have the decency to post anything about Twoism 30, but instead a rather blunt request about new music. No wonder they skipped all these comments.

And it also makes sense to me that they skipped all the comments regarding a more precise date. On the one hand, they are not allowed to share this (contractually) and on the other hand, just as MDG merely said that an album is coming, they will also cover themselves so that no one can hold them accountable for this should the claim not come true. In that respect, they certainly have learned from the period prior to Tomorrow's Harvest.

A bit like current world status?

No worries though. This phase is considered by many as the speculative phase. For most, the real buildup starts when both boardsofcanada.com and warp.net announce the album. The weeks after is the real memorable party.

Just listen to the dialogue but replace oranges with instruments/production techniques, orange juice with music, and Minute Maid with BoC. "You can't make BoC just by copying a few aspects of it" is the first take-away, and "If it's Minute Maid, there's no doubt about it" could be analogous to "When you hear our actual work, you won't have even the little shreds of doubt that appear when you're listening to even the most convincing fakes".

I interpreted the bit about "mixing the juice of different oranges" to be a reference to the fact that it's a mixtape.

Also I think Doxa Sinistra ending with "give it a bit longer," followed by "Five! Your choice!" could be a cheeky message about waiting for their fifth album.

Remember the pre-TH era with the old website and the black placeholder square that appeared and everybody slowly started losing their minds? The forum really came back to life a little with the TH drop but the years/months leading up to it were pretty bad. I feel like that's kinda where we're at right now, except the black square is now instagram likes and that old cosecha site. Serious withdrawal symptoms, myself included.

I know the wait will ultimately be worth it, even though I would have liked to hear the scrapped TH sequel they had pretty much finished in 2023, instead of the AI-assisted album about children in space they're now finishing up instead.

As bleak as your last sentence sounds, I cannot but wholeheartedly agree with it. The direction has clearly changed and you should see my Reddit post about recently. I think there is a division among the brothers.

As we know, in a few weeks the new track produced by BOC and co-written by Mike "The Protection of Happiness Generator" will be released (the title sounds like good vibes)...

"Boards Of Canada re-wire Henderson's psychedelic fairground, masking the diesel fumes with a cloud of toffee apple."

Yes, thanks for the reminder! They are still making music, and there's no way they'd release their album before this release.

Goodness gracious, so many hyperbolic projections.

The Protection of Happiness Generator.... only BoC and Davy Henderson could conjure up a title like that!

As I am in England and have an account with the BBC, I listened to the part of the show from outhudd's BBC Sounds link. "Feels With Me" is a really nice optimistic sounding indie song with lots of organic acoustic instrumentation, very lush on the ears and put a smile on my face.
